The Busy Sports Mom Survival Guide: Easy Dinners Game Day

The Busy Sports Mom Survival Guide: Easy Dinners, Game Day Prep & A Little Grace

If you’re a sports mom, you know there is a point every fall when the calendar goes from “We’ve got this!” to “WHO HAS TO BE WHERE TONIGHT?” 😂

School is in full swing. Practices have started. Games are filling the weekends. Work is still work, the laundry keeps multiplying, and somehow everyone expects dinner every single night.

Sports season is one of my favorite times of the year, but it can also be exhausting.

So consider this your reminder that you don’t have to do every part of this season perfectly.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is make a few things easier.

Give Yourself Permission to Take the Shortcut

Your kids probably aren’t going to remember whether every dinner was homemade.

They’re going to remember you sitting in the stands.

They’ll remember looking over and seeing you cheering.

They’ll remember the car rides, the post-game conversations, the teammates piled into the backseat and the traditions your family created along the way.

Being present matters more than being perfect. So use the crockpot.
Order the pizza.
Leave the laundry in the dryer another day.
And if everyone has clean underwear, we’re calling it a successful week. 😂

An Easy Dinner for Busy Sports Nights

One thing I learned during my sports-mom years was to have a handful of meals that required almost no thought.

This one is perfect for practice and game nights because you can put it in the crockpot earlier in the day and forget about it.

5-Ingredient Crockpot Chicken Tacos 🌮
Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 jar salsa
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup frozen corn

Add everything to your crockpot.

Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.

Shred the chicken, stir everything together and serve with tortillas and your family’s favorite toppings.

That’s it.

Dinner: handled. 🙌
And here’s a sports-mom trick: make extra.

Use the leftovers for taco bowls, quesadillas or nachos the next day. One dinner doing double duty is exactly the kind of employee I need in my life. 😂

Get Game-Day Ready Before You Need To

There’s another lesson I learned the hard way during all those years on the sidelines:

Don’t wait until the first freezing game to prepare for the first freezing game.

Because somehow it will be 85 degrees one afternoon and you’ll be digging through closets for gloves three days later.

Keep a designated game-day bag ready during sports season.

A few things worth keeping in it:

  • Hand warmers
  • Gloves
  • Beanie
  • Portable charger
  • Snacks
  • Lip balm
  • Tissues
  • Stadium seat
  • Stadium Sak (my personal favorite). GET IT HERE

When temperatures drop, you can grab it and go instead of turning the house upside down ten minutes before you’re supposed to leave.

Why I Created Ultimate Stadium Sak

This is actually how Ultimate Stadium Sak® began.

Years ago, I was sitting at one of my son’s football games wrapped in a blanket trying to stay warm.

I looked down for just a few seconds to adjust it.

When I looked back up, my son had scored a touchdown.

I was sitting right there… and I missed it.

All because I was fighting with a blanket.
That blanket and I were officially done. 😂

But it made me wonder:

Why couldn’t I have the warmth and coverage of a sleeping bag without constantly holding, tucking and adjusting it? Why couldn’t I just wear it?

That question eventually became Ultimate Stadium Sak.

I designed the Sak with long sleeves to keep your hands free, a hood and pockets, a weather-resistant exterior and a zip-off bottom that allows you to get up and move around.

But those aren’t really the reason Stadium Sak exists.

I created it because I didn’t want to miss another touchdown.

Because These Seasons Don’t Last Forever

That’s the part I understand differently now.

My kids aren’t playing school sports anymore.
And those years that once felt so busy?
They went unbelievably fast.

One day you’re rushing out the door wondering where someone’s cleats are, and eventually you’d give almost anything to sit through one more game.

So when the schedule feels crazy this season, give yourself some grace.

Take the shortcuts where they don’t matter so you can show up for the things that do.

  • Sit in the stands.
  • Cheer too loudly.
  • Take the pictures.
  • Stay for the last play.
  • And when your kid looks into the stands to see if you’re watching… be there. ❤️
  • Because you don’t have to do it all.

You just have to keep showing up for what matters.

If you don't have a Stadium Sak, YOU NEED ONE.   Check it out Here

Don’t rush the season. These are the days you’ll remember.

See you on the sidelines
